Knowledge and self-efficacy of youth to take action on climate change

Youth currently in secondary school will spend most of their adult life a hotter climate associated with change (CC). This study investigated attitudes youth living an Australian Biosphere Reserve to identify understanding CC causes, impact, and mitigation measures, as well feelings self-efficacy hope. An online survey 425 found that although participants reported high level impacts, they had significant knowledge gaps regarding the effective measures mitigate CC. In addition, expressed little hope society take action, lowered sense self-efficacy. Significant gender age differences were for knowledge, experience, concern about perceptions how prepared them navigating impacts These findings inform communication education interventions mobilise respond global crisis.
